The Art Co-operative will honor the gorgeous Columbia Gorge at the First Thursday Art Walk between 4-6 p.m. on September 6, 2018. The 50-foot frontage windows will artfully play on the mighty Columbia River that helped formed the region. Many of the 40 member artists will be present to talk about their latest works and will again encourage visitors to express their own creativity for free by painting a ceramic bisque-fired bowl. The very popular Community Bowl Project is sponsored by Georgie's Ceramic & Clay by providing the raw clay while the rest of the materials will be supplied by the Co-op. Once glazed, the bowls will be fired and available for $10 with all proceeds going to the nonprofit Sisters of the Road Cafe in Old Town Portland. For nearly 40 years the cafe has been helping to feed and support the underserved in Portland.
Light refreshments will be offered and sponsors Royale Brewing Co. and Café Ponté will provide beer and coffee.
Pianist John Gilmore will add to the lively ambiance with his sets.
Artistic Portland is an Artists’ Co-operative that reflects the legendary, rich and thriving PDX art scene located at 318 SW Taylor Street in the heart of downtown Portland.
