At the First Thursday Art Gallery Art Walk on August 4, 2016 between 4-7 p.m., Artist Co-operative Artistic Portland will welcome the Dog Days of Summer with their unique designs. The Co-operative is challenging its member artists to present their interpretations of man’s best friend. All of the creations will be on view through the month of August and visitors are asked to provide feedback in the form of a vote for their favorite interpretation. Some of these original art pieces will be randomly awarded to participating visitor/voters. Member artists will be welcoming patrons to visit and answer any questions they might have about their art.
House Spirits Distillery will offer tastings of their innovative and award-winning spirits. Other refreshments will be provided as well.
In addition to finished art, the Co-op also offers art classes in August including Landscape Photography by Peter Phu Ho (8/6 and 8/20).
The art co-operative initially opened its doors in the Hollywood District in May 2013. While successful there, the 50-member artists’ co-operative expanded to its current 2,700 sq. ft. location at 318 SW Taylor Street in Downtown Portland on June 1, 2015.
