At the First Thursday Art Gallery Art Walk on April 7, 2016 between 4-7 p.m., artist co-operative Artistic Portland will welcome April’s showers with Flower Power. The Co-operative is challenging its member artists to present their interpretations of Flower Power. All of the creations will be on view through the month of April and visitors are asked to provide feedback in the form of a vote for their favorite interpretation. Some of these original art pieces will be randomly awarded to participating visitors. There will also be a fresh flower giveaway and Kim Fisher will host a fabric flower make-and-take to welcome spring. The participating artists will be welcoming patrons to visit and answer any questions they might have about their art.
Stone Barn Brandyworks and Oregon Bark Chocolatier will also be in attendance with chocolate treats and spirits. Other refreshments will be provided as well.
In addition to finished art, the Co-op also offers art classes in April including Landscape Photography by Peter Phu Ho (4/2 and 4/16), Crayon Meditation by Ben Gilbert (4/13), Watercolor 101 (4/8) and 102 (4/22) by Beth Adams, and Product Photography (4/23) by Michaela Houston.
The art co-operative initially opened its doors in the Hollywood District in May 2013 and the 50-member artists’ co-operative expanded to its current 2,700 sq. ft. location at 318 SW Taylor Street in Downtown Portland on June 1, 2015.
