Neighborhood Suggestions?

I'm a self-employed artist, and will be moving to Portland in the Fall. I'd like to live in a neighborhood where there are other creative folks, doing their thing. Other factors that are important to me in a neighborhood are a sense of community, proximity to parks and bike paths, and easy access to public transportation; someplace that has plenty of social gathering spots, such as cafes, pubs, little restaurants, etc. and activities available like yoga, dance, open-mike and music jams. Any…See More

"Hi Faliscia, I too will be moving to Portland this year, but not until the Fall. Since you're a bit ahead of me, I'm wondering if you might have any advice?  Did you find what you were looking for? And, if so, what resources did you…"

"John, I see that you posted this back in 2014, but, like Michael McD and Katie McM, I'd be very interested to know if (and how ) you found the answers to your questions. I'll be moving to Portland in the Fall, but I will be renting for the…"

Profile Information

Which Portland neighborhood do you call home? Or, are you Moving to Portland?
Will be moving to Portland this Fall.
About Me:
I am a mixed-media artist, and I love to create. I owned an art gallery on Cape Cod for seven years before moving to Santa Fe in 2006. Since then I've worked as a therapeutic riding facilitator and a palliative caregiver. I enjoy working with people and animals.
I'm a big outdoors fan. Some of my favorite outdoor activities are biking, skiing, kayaking, and sailing. I am passionate about music, dance, and theater, and I love to perform.
What do you love about Portland?
I love it that Portland is so environmentally conscious and committed to green-living. The many beautiful parks, the rivers, the clean air, and its proximity to the ocean and Mount Hood are all things I love. The bike paths are one of the best and most innovate aspects of Portland, and I've heard the public transportation is great. Then, last but not least, are the neighborhoods. I love the idea of a big city made up of many small communities, each with its own personality.
My music:
You name it, I love it! Especially if you can dance to it, and don't laugh, but one of my favorite things to do is sing karaoke.
What's your favorite Portland neighborhood and why?
I don't know yet, but I'm having fun exploring the options through this website. There are so many possibilities, it's actually a little bit overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a major research project! - LoL
Favorite quote:
If you can fix it, why worry? And if you can't fix it, why worry?
