About Me:
Mission
The Hollywood Theatre educates emerging artists about filmmaking, partners with independent filmmakers indigenous to Oregon to produce new works, and engages diverse audiences by exhibiting independent, foreign and classic films at the Hollywood Theatre.

Company Overview
The Hollywood Theatre was built in 1926. Over the years, the Theatre has seated audiences for vaudeville shows, silent films accompanied by live orchestration, Cinerama and more. Currently, more than 70,000 people visit the historic Hollywood Theatre each year.

Film Action Oregon (FAO) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit best known for owning and operating the Hollywood Theatre in NE Portland. We are one of the only arts-based nonprofits in Oregon that offer cultural programs year-round.

Our preservation efforts and programming of the Hollywood Theatre have created support from the National Trust for Historic Preservation and recognition from The Sundance Institute.

Each year FAO provides educational programming and film screenings at the Hollywood Theatre for over 2,000 young people via Project Youth Doc, Animate It!, the PDX Teen Filmmaking Collective, and special screenings at the Theatre for students in partnership with nearby schools, taking advantage of the Theatre's diverse programming to bring lessons to life on the big screen. FAO is one of the leading fiscal sponsor for independent film projects in Oregon, providing valuable assistance in fundraising, distribution, and exhibition of these new works.
